The ‘less is more’ look [cheap true religion]

The ‘less is more’ look

For this month’s issue, Inquirer RED Magazine had the pleasure of featuring educator, wife and mother Felicia Atienza.

To complement her natural beauty, we decided to go with the “less is more” look using products by Chanel.

For her eyes,One of the most popular ones are fake watches, fitchshirt illegally produced copies of authentic Rolex watches. we used Le Volume de Chanel 40 mascara. Chanel’s high-precision mascara provides instant volume and a lush, dark color after just one stroke.

Then we used Les 4 Ombres in No. 42 Seduction, an eye-shadow quad of warm hues that can be applied dry or wet for a more vibrant finish.

Atienza has Asian eyes, so the burgundy and champagne tones opened up her peepers and made her lovely brown eyes stand out.

Her bronze skin was complemented by this beautiful shade that’s not too pink (Joues Contraste Powder Blush in No. 85 Evocation). Jul B. Dizon anniversary

I have to add that I had the honor of attending the celebration of the 33rd anniversary of Jul B. Dizon jewelry earlier this week at The Peninsula Manila.

I was especially excited to see what jeweler Janina Dizon had in store for everyone. Word was she was unveiling new colors for her gorgeous Tatjana clutch collection. Sure enough, “gorgeous” was the right word. The same goes for the jewelry designs that were on display that night.

Models walked around wearing truly beautiful creations, many of which were brightly colored and almost candy-like in appearance. I thought they were really unique. I also loved the armbands made of stingray (same as the bags). What a casual yet stunning way to accessorize!

Now what was really creative were paintings that had actual jewelry affixed to their surface like they were part of the pictures depicted on the canvas. What an innovative way to showcase jewelry, I thought.

Jewelry-making is a long-standing tradition in the Dizon family, and has been for over six decades. Janina’s grandmother, Paz G.Choose cheap germanww2uniforms on ourwebsite and save your money for really qualitative and durable fake watches. Banas, started the business. Her mom, Jul Dizon, opened her own store in 1978, while Janina now has her “diffusion” line, which she initiated in 2005.

The anniversary showcased new colors of the Tatjana clutch as well as the launch of another handbag line, Tate, which she named after her son. “My handbags, the Tatjana and the Tate, were born out of my love for handbags. I loved the idea of making my stingray line expand from jewelry to bags. As a jeweler, I love the idea of having a diamond embedded in the bag itself,” says Janina.

The jewelry showcased during the event paid homage to four amazing women, namely, Elizabeth Taylor, Tina Chow, Grace Kelly and Wallis Simpson.

“When I design, I think of a strong, independent woman who knows what she wants. She can be modern or classically conservative but she knows that jewelry always adds the finishing touch.”

I have a lot of respect for Janina as a jeweler and as a tastemaker. It’s wonderful how she moves from jewelry to bag design so seamlessly, and with such flair.

Although we charge about 24 percent annually for our money [cheap true religion]

Why I became a Chinese shadow banker

In the fall of 2010, as deputy head of China investment banking at UBS AG, I spoke to a group of wealthy investors in Beijing about the outlook for Chinese stocks. A rumpled, 50-something man from Hangzhou named Wang Zhigang pulled me aside afterward and asked for my advice about investing. Until then, he had made his money through curbside lending, not stocks. But, he lamented, his returns had dropped from more than 30 percent a year to a mere 23 percent. He worried about his personal fortune, which he had built up from nothing to almost 3 billion yuan (about $445 million back then).

He hardly needed my advice, I told him. “With your performance, even Ba-Fei-Te should farm out some money for you to manage!” I said,Elegant authenticmonclerjackets features in chiffon. referring to Warren Buffett’s name in Chinese.

Intrigued, I flew to Hangzhou a few days later to find out how Wang had done so well. He drove me to the Haining Leather Market to meet some of his customers. They were merchants of leather shoes, handbags and accessories. Their network was wide and close-knit, and they sold products globally through traditional channels, as well as online.

Twenty years ago, these guys would have looked like small fish to a traditional bank. Even after their businesses had grown exponentially, they couldn’t supply the kind of collateral that banks demanded. Yet these merchants needed money, and they needed it fast. So they turned for help to “shadow” bankers, like Wang.

There has been a lot of talk lately about shadow banking in China. Between curbside lenders, microcredit institutions, pawnshops, trust loans, “wealth management products” from banks and other components, this murky and unregulated financial universe is now worth an estimated $5 trillion, challenging the dominance of the traditional banking sector. Such unrestrained growth naturally worries China’s central bank, which fears that a flood of bad shadow loans could prompt a financial meltdown similar to the U.S. subprime crisis in 2008. A liquidity squeeze in June, when the central bank allowed interbank lending rates to rise to as high as 20 percent before intervening, was widely interpreted as a warning to banks to clean up their shadow portfolios.

China’s shadow bankers are easy to demonize. Like Wang, many are nicotine-stained and seemingly unsophisticated. Their methods are unorthodox, possibly even unsavory. Their loans don’t show up on any balance sheets. They look like a disaster waiting to happen.

I believe these fears are misplaced, and I should know: Eight months after my visit to Hangzhou, I became a shadow banker myself. Since 2011, I have run a microcredit firm in Guangzhou, which provides loans to thousands of small-scale entrepreneurs: florists, restaurateurs, fish farmers, vegetable growers, roadside hawkers.

Although we charge about 24 percent annually for our money, demand remains virtually unlimited. Our customers are too small and too unstable to get traditional bank loans. At the same time, because we keep our loan amounts small ― $20,000 apiece on average ― and because we have close contact with our clients, the business has proved reasonably secure. Our bad debts have not strayed above 5 percent since the firm was founded five years ago.

This month,Professional Replica Watches UK online shop. We provide hermesbelt, Replica Rolex watches for you. I visited Wang in Hangzhou again. A few borrowers had defaulted in recent months, he told me, but unlike some of his competitors, he had been “extremely lucky.” He was scrupulous about only lending to clients and businesses he knew well, and years of experience had given him a good eye.

“This is my hard-earned money; I have to be careful,” he told me. “My family was dirt-poor when I was a child. I am just so afraid of becoming poor again.” Wang’s fortune had almost doubled since I had last seen him.

One cannot defend a $5 trillion industry with a couple of examples. Two of Wang’s colleagues had been wiped out in the last year after large borrowers defaulted. Several other informal lenders in Hangzhou had ended up behind bars after disgruntled investors accused them of fraud. In recent weeks, news reports have described mass bankruptcies among small businesses that had borrowed heavily from shadow banks at exorbitant rates.

But neither should one condemn all of shadow banking because of stories like these. Shadow banking is well diversified, and serves a legitimate customer base.Shop the Latest menhoodies. By and large, it has much lower leverage than banks or corporate China. Losses at shadow banks are often absorbed by entrepreneurs themselves, without affecting the taxpayer.

Even the “wealth management products” offered by regular banks are not to be feared, because they are just deposits, pure and simple, whatever the theoretical distinctions. I buy them myself.

Certainly, the sector could stand to be brought under greater supervision. But many of the regulations already in place are vague and unreasonable. Authorities have never clearly defined something as fundamental as what constitutes “illegal fundraising.” Microcredit operations, like ours,A bikesaddle is a style that many are using now! are allowed to borrow from no more than two banks for any more than 50 percent of their equity capital. Why only two banks? Why only 50 percent? These restrictions are arbitrary, and they severely limit our ability to lend to underprivileged customers.

The government and the media are scapegoating the wrong culprit. We invite you to experience choose pnikeairshoes for you. Shadow banking has flourished in China for one simple reason: financial repression. By keeping interest rates artificially low, authorities have forced savers to search for more lucrative financial products. By favoring banks ― which, in turn, favor state-owned or well-connected private-sector companies with loans ― they have forced small enterprises to seek out people like me and Wang.

Meanwhile, projects that might look sketchy at 9 percent interest rates suddenly look feasible at 6 percent. Under such conditions, traditional banks have steadily lowered their lending standards ― from prime loans to subprime and then to simply silly loans.

Meet the U.K.’s Next Big Shoe Designer, Next Up at Barneys

Growing up,Cheap parka hublotwatch will have fleece. Rupert Sanderson was always interested in creative pursuits, whether working on sets for a school play or designing invitations for parties. And when he graduated university, Sanderson channeled this passion into an advertising career only to find that it wasn't particularly satisfying. "I always thought it was the best way to be creative but it was a big mistake!," he recalls now. "I didn't know I could make a product, [even though] I always found myself drawn to shoes." Sanderson decided to enroll in the well-regarded Cordwainer's Technical College, where notable footwear alumni include Nicholas Kirkwood and Sophia Webster. During his summer break from classes, he took a tour of Italy to learn more about their shoe-making tradition; post-graduation, he was soon back in the country working for Sergio Rossi and Bruno Magli. We have high quality dieseljeans, you can not miss the best Tag Heuer Replica Watches online.

In 2001, Sanderson returned to London and founded his namesake brand. Now, more than a decade later, Sanderson has stores in his hometown along with Paris and Hong Kong. He's also gone on to win multiple industry awards, including the British Fashion Award's Accessory Designer of the year in 2008. He counts Kate Middleton among his fans and his shoes have grown to become a street style favorite. And this fall — though his shoes are already carried stateside by Bloomingdale's and Saks Fifth Avenue — Barneys will add them to their gleaming shoe floor.Cheap coolerbag top quality online,100% authentic guarantee. Don't miss the slideshow previewing his fall 2013 collection.

You've been in the business for a long time. To what do you attribute your longevity?

It's understanding that it is minute changes which help develop a brand over time. You slowly add to your collection. [For instance] we didn't introduce sneakers and handbags until this past season. But also it helps that I'm very involved in every aspect of my business from design to production — we even own our factory in Italy! It's this experience that I brought when I worked with Fashion Fringe in 2008 to nurture young talent.

What do you look for in an emerging designer?

Above all, it's talent! The winner, Liam Fahy, spent ten months working in the Italian factories and I provided guidance so he would have a deeper understanding of the business. It's expected he would take that knowledge and work in the industry, or in his case, start his own line.

You waited until recently to delve into bags. What inspired your bag collection?

Brands like Proenza Schouler, Balenciaga, and the like have very classic bags that they make minute changes to season after season. I wanted a bag that would stand the test of time so I developed mine after a bag I used to carry sheet music in as a child. It has strong hardware but it is also simple and looks timeless.

What about your fall 2013 shoe collection?

It's everything from Japanese kimonos to Lalique crystals to thinking about Kill Bill and Hong Kong triads. I was also inspired by masculinity and girls who like to dress like boys in suits and kilts. I used interesting materials like oily surfaced leathers and I had some retro references like the fifties block heel and the pointed pump.

Speaking of a masculine shoe, men don't always get why women are drawn to them. What is appealing about a woman in a mannish shoe?

Mannish shoes imply confidence because they are for the woman who can embrace that Annie Hall, masculine-meets-feminine vibe. But really the definition of accessorizing is that you are adding to any outfit, be it a heel, wedge or mannish shoe. I want to design for a woman who buys things to enhance her wardrobe, regardless of her style.

I read that you name your shoes after daffodils. Can you explain?

I came across a junk shop in London and there was a book of all the names of the different daffodils. There are about 18,000, so I thought "Well, my work is done!" Naming your shoes gives them more of a human quality, they're not just some code number.

Kate Middleton has worn your shoes in the past. What do you think of her style?

Yes, she has worn our shoes before; as you know, she has a very conservative sense of style. So she will choose our gray suede Malone pumps and wear those when she’s not in her nude LK Bennett’s. I don’t think she would be very interested in the more fashion-forward shoes. She seems to be different from her [deceased] mother-in-law who was more involved in fashion.

You've blogged in the past for Vogue U.K. Do you enjoy writing and do you think it's important to be engaged with your customer?

I believe in crafting and writing blog posts. I’m not a Twitter person because the spontaneity and the instant ability that it requires is not for me. I prefer to spend time working on a well-written post and engaging with my customers that way. I’m not big on Instagram either. I will send out a few pictures but I believe in taking my time to digest information,2013 Collection germanarmyuniforms 1672 Styles. showing a product after a few months. I understand the need of an editor or a stylist to share their thoughts but I think designers need to spend more time to develop their products versus how instant the world has become.

Doug Robinson: Utah man's new running shoe could be golden [cheap true religion]

Doug Robinson: Utah man's new running shoe could be golden

The thing is, the running shoe, as we know it, is all wrong. Comically wrong.

Just look at it. It’s not shaped like a foot; it’s shaped like a missile. It doesn’t work like a foot, either. The toes are crammed together, unable to spread out and fully contribute to forward propulsion. The heel is raised and padded, encouraging a heel-first foot strike and hindering the calf muscle from “loading” for a big push off the ground. The arch is pushed up, preventing the foot from flattening out to produce a spring effect. The front end is curled to further neutralize the role of the toes.

It’s a mess, and yet the running shoe has remained largely unchanged since the 70’s running boom, except to become more padded and more heel-oriented. Only in recent years, especially since the publishing of “Born to Run,” has the running shoe’s design really been questioned.

Golden Harper recognized these flaws years ago while selling shoes in his father’s store in Orem — Runner’s Corner. To put runners in the best shoe for their running mechanics and structure, he videotaped them running barefoot and then in shoes. He was amazed by what he saw.

“What I saw was that people run great without shoes,Choose from a wide range of authenticguccihandbags, shoulder bags and clutch bags from top brands. but when they run in training shoes, the wheels come off,” he says. “We just spent 45 minutes to sell them a shoe,Our gorgeous goodleddownlight2011 are perfect for wedding, proms or any occasion when you need a little extra warmth and glamour. and they run way better without the shoe. We were wondering, are we doing any good here? We’re selling them shoes to make them run bad!”

For years Golden and his father, Hawk, cut up shoes in the back room of Runner’s Corner and dabbled with building a better shoe — the heel of, say, a Nike, with the toe box of a New Balance, combined with the arch of a Mizuno, and so forth. Golden continued to pursue the creation of a better running shoe, eventually consulting a team of Portland-based biomechanical engineers on the project. The result is on the shelves of running stores nationally.Elegant authenticmonclerjackets features in chiffon. The brand name of his shoe is Altra, and it’s the opposite of everything described in the first paragraph of this column, in both appearance and design.

“We’re giving people a shoe that’s a running technique lesson in a box,” says Harper. “It provides a natural foot and body position. You are instantly going to run better. You can see it immediately.”

Harper decided to challenge the Big Seven of running shoes — Brooks,A peplum authenticcoat. Asics, Saucony, Nike, New Balance, Mizuno and Adidas — which dominate the field like Jamaican sprinters in the dashes. That’s why he sold the shoe to Logan-based Icon Health and Fitness (he retained a stake and a role in the company “heading up brand management” and,Wanna to buy the new canadagoosecampdown now? of course, is considered the shoe’s founder).

“We needed money, multi-millions, to compete with the big boys,” says Harper. “We could’ve gone grass roots and been a nobody. But, I’d rather have a small piece of something big than a big piece of something small. This deal allowed us to focus on building great shoes and teaching running form.”

For the uninitiated, breaking into the Big Seven in the running shoe business is like challenging McDonald’s and Wendy’s in the fast-food business, but Altra is making a run at them, pardon the pun.

“We are in year two and we pulled even with Adidas in sales a few months ago,” says Harper. “We are No. 8-ish nationwide, in about 500 stores. We should do about $20 million in sales this year and overtake Adidas and Mizuno.”

For the 30-year-old Harper, a former two-time state cross-country champion at Orem High and the conference 10,000-meter champion at BYU-Hawaii, the pursuit of a better running shoe has been a passion. He and his father recognized a problem with running shoes long before “Born to Run” raised the issue. Over the years, they estimate they sent some 3,000 pairs of their customers’ running shoes to a local shoe repair shop to have the heel sliced open and the foam cushioning removed. There was nothing on the market in which the heel and toe were the same height — running shoes place the heel 12 to 15 millimeters higher than the toe (a 2:1 drop is fairly standard). The Harpers claim Golden coined the popular term “zero drop” to describe shoes that put the toe and heel at the same level.

Harper concluded that not only did traditional running shoes impede proper running mechanics, but they were also injurious. He estimates that half of his father’s customers have bunions, plantar fasciitis, hammer toe and sesamoiditis, among other foot problems, which he blames on the design of running shoes.

“It’s like Chinese foot-binding,” says Harper. “The foot is shaped by shoes and over time there’s damage. Think about it: All the bones in the foot are being manipulated toward the front area of the foot for a beat down.”

The traditional running shoe is largely the creation of the late Bill Bowerman, the former Oregon coach and Nike co-founder who famously created running shoes by pressing foam into shoes with his wife’s waffle iron. Bowerman’s intent was to encourage a long stride in his runners. Believing the best way to do that was a heel-first foot strike, he put the padding in the heel. But a heel strike is both injurious and counterproductive. It means the runner strikes the ground in front of his body, which creates a braking effect with each stride. It also means the body does not absorb the shock of the foot strike as well as a proper mid-foot strike. Anyway, generations of shoe companies copied Bowerman, and most are still doing it more than five decades later.
