Appropriate action to be taken upon evaluation of cases



BOTH the road and track team managers for the Asian Cycling Championships in New Delhi last month will face the Malaysian National Cycling Federation's (MNCF) disciplinary board for their part in the fiasco in that meet.



At the same time, national track star Azizulhasni Awang will be advised by the federation to ensure that his activities on social media sites, particularly those concerning the national body, are accurate and corrections made if they are not.



MNCF deputy president Datuk Naim Mohamad said the disciplinary committee chaired by Datuk Samat Aripin will be tasked with taking "appropriate action" upon evaluation of the cases involving secretary Ibrahim Mustapha and vice president Omar Saad.



Ibrahim, who was the track team manager during the meet, admitted to abandoning his duties while the team were in competition to join the para cycling squad, of which he was also manager, on a trip to the Taj Mahal.



The road team management, led by Omar, is faced with the farce that saw junior cyclist Aimi Iwasaki Mohd Moritoshi not being registered for the time trial event when she had been picked by the MNCF selection committee.



Also, the road team management will have some answering to do in the case of Ahmad Fakhrullah Alias and Nik Mohd Azwan Zulkifle being registered and brought to India to compete in the Under-23 road races, only to be rejected for being overaged.
